The Board of Trustees met for its regular meeting in Alumni Hall beginning at 0830 on December 11, 2014. ADM Robert J. Natter, 67 USN (Ret.), Chair of the Board of Trustees, acted as chair of the meeting and Commander Lawrence Heyworth, III, ’70, USN (Ret.) acted as secretary of the meeting.

The Chair welcomed all and determined that a quorum was present. Veronica Rogers ’87 and 1stLt Ian Cameron ’12, USMC were absent having been previously excused by the Chair.

The following resolutions were adopted by a unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees:

In his remarks, the Chair provided an overview of what was discussed by the Executive Committee on December 10th. He advised that the Executive Committee had unanimously approved the Authorization to Transact Business, which was located in their board book.

The Superintendent provided the Board an update on the Naval Academy and the proposed Cyber Center.

After all Committee Chairs provided their reports to the Board, the Chair then acknowledged two departures. Herb Frerichs ’80, who has been a board selected trustee and Chair of the Governance Committee and Skid Heyworth ’70, Secretary of the USNA Alumni Association whose resignation takes effect as of 1 January 2015.

With the acceptance of CDR Heyworth’s resignation, the Board determined that it is in the best interests of the Association to establish an officer position known as “Assistant Secretary.” Effective December 11, 2014, CDR Craig J. Washington ’89, USN (Ret.) became the Association’s Assistant Secretary.

The Vice Chair, acting as Chair of the meeting, announced the next meeting date: 7-8 May 2015.

The meeting adjourned with Art Bryant ’66 leading in singing 2 verses of Navy Blue and Gold.
